The Historical Development of Wooden Tools

Types of Wooden Pallets

Wooden pallets have carved out a niche in the logistics sector for material transportation since 1930. In particular, due to their ability to be made from soft and hard woods over time, they have emerged as a highly competitive field. Following World War II, their preference increased due to industrialization and heightened competition. After World War II, pallet types made from steel and plastic also came into use. However, due to their higher costs, wooden pallets have always been more widely used. Today, especially with the increase in environmental awareness, the use of plastic tools has decreased. Furthermore, wooden pallet prices are more affordable compared to plastic and steel tools. Since wooden pallets can be recycled, they are also used as raw material for other products. For these reasons, wooden pallets have been the most in-demand pallet system since the early days of packaging. Pallets are very important in the warehousing and transportation sectors. Providing advantages in terms of time and cost are also reasons for their increased use. Every pallet has an upper and a lower deck. Spaces are left between these decks for the forks of lift trucks to enter.

Determining Wooden Pallet Prices and Dimensions

While wooden pallets do not have a standard size, square and near-square shapes are most commonly used in the logistics sector. Being square is more advantageous for maintaining the load's balance during transport. Additionally, dimensions are important in determining wooden pallet prices. Although there isn't a fixed size, there are specific dimensions. When determining wooden pallet prices, the type of wood used and the dimensions of the wood will dictate the prices of the pallet types. When determining wooden pallet dimensions, the length is calculated first, followed by the width. Pallets are generally made as two-way, single-faced, four-way, and double-faced. Single-deck pallets have only an upper surface, while double-deck pallets have both lower and upper surfaces. Two-way pallets allow forklift forks to enter from either side of the pallet. With double-sided pallets, the forklift can enter from any side of the pallet to lift it.
